• A person has two ID numbers. That in the “Suffix” field and against their name, is the one ascribed on my database. The second is labelled, “Person ID” and beginning with an “I”, is the number allocated by the website software on uploading data. Both are therefore unique to an individual and can be quoted in correspondence.

The individuals have been given alpha-numeric designations assigned solely to identify the different families in the files and have no other meaning.

EXAMPLE:- WS00992M16A is broken down as follows:-

W= That the data is from the WRIGHT database

S = The county from which the earliest person known comes – in this case from Suffolk [C = Cambridgeshire; E = Essex; H = Huntingdonshire; N = Norfolk]

00992 = The unique numeric ID code for each person

M15 = The code for the parish. M16 in Suffolk equals Monks Eleigh, for instance.

A = The family line from that village or town. Several have more than one family that cannot, as yet, be connected. There are a few exceptions where no village code of family is given where more work needs to be done or a person cannot be linked to parents but their family is known, or because they are the only family from that location.

  • Each head of line will be added as a PDF tree document connected to the present village of origin. Naturally, although some villages will have WRIGHTs present those people may originate elsewhere and so not every village where WRIGHTs occur will be listed in the PDF files

  • Born and Died dates can alternatively be baptism and burial depending upon period and which has the fullest known information. Where each is known, birth and death dates take precendence.

  • All the information is subject to review, especially the earlier generations, where sources to corroborate are much less easy to come by, and interpretation has to be made.

  • Names can undergo many spelling changes, especially in early records but generally only the spelling 'WRIGHT' has been used on this site.

  • No names or details for living people are given on this site. Though every care is taken regards its accuracy no responsibility is taken for errors or omissions.

  • FREE Y DNA tests are available to any WRIGHT male who can trace his family back to East Anglia, subject to satisfactory proof of descent. This will depend on demand, but full costs of a entry level 37 marker test may be met at the discretion of the payer. This can be discussed by getting in touch via e-mail at the address on this site, or by making contact via the guest book.

  • Thank-you to those people who have assisted in adding information about their families and thus enable this site to be created

TOGETHER LET'S EXPAND OUR KNOWLEDGE OF BOTH, THE WRIGHTS OF EAST ANGLIA AND OF EAST ANGLIA IN GENERAL!

I HOPE YOU ENJOY THE SITE
